Recognize HIDDEN Distractions

Most people already understand how distractions can negatively impact their productivity. But what you may not have considered is how distractions can play a role in setting and pursuing our goals.

Today, I want to take a deep dive into distractions and help you identify things in your life that you may not have even realized are distractions to your flourishing.

Distractions Are Obstacles

One way to think of distractions that may help you is to see distractions as obstacles to overcome. After all, not all distractions are created equally. Some distractions may be turned on and off with a switch like your phone. But other distractions may involve a momentous change in your life.

As I mentioned earlier, usually we think of distractions as something that steals our focus and attention and impedes our ability to be productive at tasks like work or school.

But distractions can be much larger.

If you look at the word “distraction” it is easy to see what can qualify as a distraction. It is anything that takes you OFF TRACK. But what track are you being taken off of?

The track might be as simple as studying for a test tomorrow or it could be as large as your entire direction in life.

Sometimes, a major goal we pursue is ITSELF a distraction. This is what I will discuss next.
